HARVEST CELEBRATION - Our Harvest Celebration takes place on Sunday evening, Sept 10th in Leigh Church at 5.30 pm followed by the Harvest Supper which Ann Freeth is organising. (£6 adults and £2 children, 5&unders free).

COUNCIL MEETING - Please note that the date for the next council meeting has changed to October 3rd - it was originally going to take place a day later.

FIRST AIDERS - If you are a registered first aider, the Parish Council would like your details in case of emergency. More details here.

ROAD CLOSURES - Part of Happy Land - from Rixon Gate in Ashton Keynes to the B4040 crossroads, will be closed from 21 August for approx three weeks. The B4696 just north of Braydon Crossroads (towards Leigh) will be closed from 11 September until the end of the year! More details here.

POLICE VISIT - The Leigh’s community police officer will be at Hillside from 3.00pm-5.00pm on September 15th to speak to the public about any concerns.

Travel

Road closed: Happy Land will be closed from August 21st for approximately three weeks from the junction at Chelworth Crossroads (B4040) and Rixon Gate in Ashton Keynes

Road closed: B4696 at Braydon Crossroads,heading towards Leigh. Will be closed from 11 September until January for bridge replacement works.

Police

Between 18:00 on the 15th August 2017 and 09:00 on the 16th August 2017 unknown suspects have attempted to break in to “Cutting’Um” Palace, Market cross, Malmesbury, damage caused but nothing taken.

Between 22:15 and 22:45 on 19th August 2017 2 unknown males have stolen a safe containing between £1000 and £1500 from the Rectory Hotel in Malmesbury.

Rise & Stride for Historic Churches Trust

September 9th

The Chancel is one of many churches which relies on fundraising to stay open to the public.

On September 9th the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust is holding a Ride & Stride event. Hugh Thomas from the Parish Council is taking part and is encouraging others to join him.

The charity says: Participants may be cyclists, walkers, horse-riders or drivers of mobility scooters.All denominations are welcome. Visit as many churches as you like, planning your own route. Seek sponsorship from friends, relations and colleagues.
